Julie Steiner publishes article about the Tree Wardens

After speaking on the Chapter 87 panel at last year’s annual conference, Julie Steiner, J.D., published “Guardians of Municipal Public Trees:  Commonwealth of Massachusetts Tree Wardens’ Authority and Accountability,” 38 W. NEW ENG. L. REV. 377 (2016). The scholarly article is both a great addition to the tree warden archives and an excellent supporting case to update the Chapter 87 law to meet present needs. Read the article here.  You can also view it online in the Western New England Law Review Journal  at  http://digitalcommons.law.wne.edu/facschol/321/.  Don’t miss Dr. Steiner when she again joins the Chapter 87 panel at the 2017 conference!

Saluting Branches looking for 2016 volunteers

Volunteers needed to support the 2nd annual Saluting Branches on September 21 at the National Cemetery in Bourne. Saluting Branches: Arborists United for Veteran Remembrance is an opportunity for tree care professionals throughout the country to unite and do what we do best – provide exceptional tree care – to keep our veterans cemeteries safe, beautiful places for all those who visit. We have a great opportunity right here in Massachusetts at the National Cemetery in Bourne. Your donation of time and equipment on this day will go a long way in helping restore and rejuvenate the landscape at this site where so many veterans are memorialized. We can use help in a number of areas including: pruning, chip crews, tree planting, climbers, PHC, ornamental pruning, and stump grinding. We have close to 75 volunteers signed up now, but still need your help!  Questions? Send an email.
