Managing Roadside Tree Mortality
October 26, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Many communities are seeing significant roadside tree mortality, of oaks especially, and/or a significant number of trees in severe decline due to repeated drought and pressure from gypsy moth and other pests. Additionally, ash trees are dying due to emerald ash borer and ash decline. It is important for communities to manage risk from these trees in order to prevent personal injury and property damage and manage exposure to liability. This workshop will provide an overview of tree mortality across Massachusetts; describe the roles and responsibilities of tree wardens and municipal employees related to roadside trees; show options for assessing damage; and share available resources and partnerships, including those with local utilities.
